Consider the Mountain
A message rang out from my phone to a couple of contacts I had just visited, as I thought they would appreciate the context. Driving along Interstate 81 North in the Shenandoah Valley is always a delight. The sights and grandeur are a stunning display of nature's design.
On this particular day, it was foggy and rainy, with much of the mountains and fields hidden behind layers of soft, white fog. The weather seemed to clear for a moment, allowing visibility just above the altitude of the mountain range to the east. As I journeyed up the highway, I pondered how this scene might look from a small plane flying low. Just as I was enjoying the imaginative scene in my mind, I came across a breathtaking view, which truly took my breath away in person. The picture I took does not fully capture the beauty of the moment.
I sent the picture attached with the caption, "The splendor of nature visible to the human eye as fog drapes over the mountains, resembling a blanket keeping them warm."
This deep, beautiful message was well received, resonating with the hearts of its recipients. Observing how nature interacts with the environment can evoke a sense of connection and reflection. Just seeing fog lying over a mountain—a common natural occurrence—and imagining it as a protective cover led me to think about how much care and attention nature holds.
In that moment, I found a sense of peace and appreciation for the world around me. Nature is always present, offering comfort during times of need, confusion, and sadness, much like the fog enveloping the mountain.
